Bushra M. Kheir Almadani

Position: Director of the Board, Haggar Holding Co.


BSC. Agriculture, Crop Production University of Khartoum 1967.

Joined the Land Use and Soil Conservation Administration at the same year and served in the Rural Development Programmes allover Eastern Sudan, Khartoum and the Northern Province as well as Central and East Kurdufan from1967 to1969. In 1970 I took the position of manager of the Gammoiya Mixed Farming Scheme, South of Omdurman.

End December 1970, I left to Holland for postgraduate studies in the International Institute for Aerial Surveys and Earth Sciences where I obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Aerial Photographs Interpretation for soil survey and soil conservation and an MSC. Degree in the Interpretation of Arial Photographs and their Use in Rural Studies. The study period in Holland included attending short courses and participating in a variety of workshops, seminars and field research within Holland, Spain and in Sudan.

I returned to Sudan in June 1974 to head the Remote Sensing and the Arial Photo Interpretation Laboratory at the Land Use and Soil Conservation Administration. Have from there, participated in the studies and preparations to create the National Remote Sensing Centre within the National Council for Research and also participated in an FAO, first-ever, remote sensing field research in East Kurdufan to assess the possibility of using satellite imagery for terrain evaluation. And also Participated in a, one month long, joint FAO-Canadian Government International Seminar held in Ottawa, Canada in May 1975. Then 1977 I represented the Country, with others, in the African Remote Sensing Conference held in January 1977 at the Kenyatta Centre in Nairobi Kenya.

December 1977, I joined the Haggar Cigarettes and Tobacco Factory as deputy production manager and continued in production management till1986. I then moved to the post of Deputy General Manager and Sales Manager from 1986 to1999 and finally appointed Marketing Director 1999 till 2011. From there to date, I continued with Haggar Holding Co. Ltd. as Director of the Board.

During 1977 to 2011, I also assumed a wide range of responsibilities as Group Coordinator that included Southern Sudan Juba Cigarettes and Tobacco Factory, Sudan Tea and Coffee Plantations (STCP), Haggar Tobacco Growing  Schemes, Haggar Limited, Haggar River Transport Company as well as D.K. Aviation (a small airline, Khartoum-Juba-Nairobi, service).

I had the opportunity to join Haggar Foundation since its inception in 1988.
